Evie is the founder of the Great Northern Psychiatry Summer School and is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist. She likes terrible puns and walking her dogs.

Dr Grace Bretnall (she/her/hers)
Co-President 2025
Grace is a core psychiatry trainee in the North East and was also co-president of GNPSS 2024. She came to the North East for Medical school after growing up in the South West and never looked back. She can usually be found listening to a radio drama with a craft activity and two naughty kittens.

Dr Ben Dempster (He/Him/His)
Co-President 2025
Ben is a current core trainee in psychiatry based in the North East and was also a co-president of GNPSS 2024. Though originally from Northern Ireland, he has absolutely loved finding a new home in Newcastle. Emma pursued medicine as a mature student after a very different career as a musician in an indie band in her 20s. -
Dr. Pwint Hlwa (Julie) Phyu (She/her/hers)
Julie is a clinical teaching fellow in psychiatry. When not in a clinic or a classroom, she can be found trying to finish the too many books on her shelf and sipping her caramel frappuccino while listening to Hozier’s Too Sweet. It is a well-known fact that if you talk to her for too long, she will start giving unsolicited Kdrama recommendations.

DR FATMA SENA OZBAL (SHE/HER/HERS)
“Hello. My name is Fatma Sena Ozbal. I’m a core psychiatry trainee in my third year, and so far I haven’t found a subspeciality that I didn’t enjoy! It’s genuinely exciting to see future colleagues showing interest in psychiatry, and I feel luck to be part of their journey. “
